After broadcasting my show with Patricia McConnell on Friday, February, 13, I stopped at my storage facility to pay a bill. I have a piano stored there. The manager of the place and I started talking about dogs. He told me a great story.
He has a German Shepard that was a former K-9 police dog. Quite clever these dogs are. Story goes that Mike and his wife were throwing a birthday party and had a truly huge birthday cake, sitting ready on a table. This room, I'm assuming it was the kitchen, had one of those locking gates so that dogs, babies, etc cannot enter. Leaving the cake in the room until time to present it later on in the party, Mike shut the door behind him and using a key, locked the door. His mistake was leaving the key in the lock.
Sometime later, He and his wife unlocked the door, entered and found, no cake. The entire cake was gone! The room had clearly been locked. What had happened?. Unbelieving, they checked on their dog. There he was, lying in it's bed, frosting all over its mouth, a huge lump of a stomach and looking rather sick.
Turns out the dog had turned the key, opened the door, entered the room, eaten the whole thing, went back out, pulled the door shut and turned the key to lock the door behind him.
If it hadn't been for all the evidence on the dogs face and the resulting visit to the vet to pump the poor dog's stomach, they never would have believed it. To this day, that dog wants nothing to do with sweets anymore.
Do you have any great stories of your dog doing the unbelievable? Please share.
